Other that being used as a medical substance, marijuana can also be used recreationally but the places that allow this is much fewer compared to those that allow the use of medical marijuana. In light of the legalization, the marijuana industry really skyrocketed. Dispensaries began developing all over the area catering to the demand for marijuana. In these dispensaries you can find a wide variety of marijuana products from different strains of marijuana plants. Now today, we are going to look into a few different ways medical marijuana can be taken by patients.

1.) Smoking and vaporizing – The most common way of using marijuana is by smoking the stuff. Even before marijuana was legalized, this is the thing that would be done by marijuana users in the dark. Smoking the marijuana is popular because it is quick and easy. In addition, by inhaling the smoke and vapor the active compounds gets into your central nervous system much faster thus speeding up the effects.

2.) Edibles – Another popular way of consuming medical marijuana is through edibles. As the name suggests, edibles are orally consumed. Edibles are fun to work with because you can mix it with whatever you are cooking. However, the effects from edibles will take some time because the marijuana will first have to be metabolized in your digestive system and through the liver which can take about an hour.

3.) Tinctures – Marijuana tinctures are similar to edibles in a way that they are orally taken. What makes them different is that tinctures other than being swallowed immediately, can simply be placed under the tongue and left there. The effects will come faster if the tinctures are applied under the tongue but it won’t be as strong and these effects can last between two to nine hours.

4.) Oil – One form of medical marijuana that has become quite popular is cannabis oil. Cannabis oil is the oil from inside the plant that has been extracted. The oil itself has a larger concentration of the active compounds making it stronger. The oil itself can be taken in small doses and can bring about a number of benefits including ones to the skin when it is applied directly onto the skin.

These are just a few different ways in which medical marijuana can be used. Each has its own benefits and in the end it is up to the user which one to go for.
