My name is Zana Legemzova, I am 26 years old and I come from Slovakia.

In 2005 I decided to move to London. I have always been interested in the fashion industry and I have had the feeling that this is a dynamic, expanding and unique area that I would like to advance my career in.

The only problem was where and how to start as I did not have any previous experience.

I came across Limperts Academy of Design website and from the very beginning I knew I wanted to do the Diploma Course in Image and Fashion Styling with them.

I am very happy I made this decision. The course gave me good knowledge and background about the industry. I enjoyed the course exceedingly. It was hard work, but great fun at the same time.

Since receiving my diploma I have been involved in styling and production of the online fashion magazine called MC Mag – it is a great fashion publication with style and taste dedicated to all fashion aficionados. I genuinely enjoy working in an fashion environment.

I am really grateful to Limperts Academy of Design for helping me on my way to the fashion world. I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who is serious about becoming a stylist.

How did you get the job?
“Word of mouth really. I knew someone who knew someone in the industry, we met and chatted, and it went from there. ”

What does your job involve?
MC Mag is an online fashion magazine. I assist the fashion editor in styling the photo shoot and I am involved in the production. That means I find and buy the clothes, accessories, props, everything we need to create the look we want. It involves a lot of hard work and running around, but I really enjoy it.

Any favourite pieces of work?
I styled the B is for Beauty shoot  called “Madame de Luxe” in the most recent edition of the magazine, which is called Newton, so that would be my favourite I think.

Do you have any tips to students wanting to get into the industry?
Get ready for the stress. It’s a fast pace job! Make as many contacts as you can, and work them. Talk to people in the industry, photographers as well as editors. Be prepared to volunteer at first, to get the experience you need. Once I started working on MC Mag, more work then followed. For example, my current fashion editor at the magazine asked me to work with him on the December issue of the Pride magazine, and so it goes on, hopefully!
