“No two gardens are the same. No two days are the same in one garden” ~Hugh Johnson
Hello again,
Even though we can not brag about “The summer of perfect weather”, at least not in this part of the world, we had it, and it’s almost over. So, now it’s enough with daydreaming and back to business. New academic year is soon starting for college based classes, and is in full speed for all the home study students.
I hope you feel refreshed and eager, and I’ll do my best to provide such a support for you to keep it that way. Autumn/Winter web update will be all about a fresh starts. In the section Tips for Students, I have formed list of the essential material you will need during your studies. List is full and comprehensive, enriched by a series of photographs depicting almost each item from the list. That can save you a precious time, once you know what and why you are searching for.
I’m in the process of contacting several prestigious Landscape and Garden designers in effort to bring close to you real professionals, and assure their opinions and tips for you. That will continue our Ask the Experts section, probably as early as at the beginning of the next year.
Design trend is still stubbornly set to creating outdoor rooms, as we witnessed this summer, watching “Super Garden” program on RTE, but I strongly believe in return of the naturalistic, environmental and the wild garden. Read more about “Back to the Future” trend on our Latest Trends page.
Still on the same subject; I’m proud to say that one of our students Conor McGrath, who graduated this year with flying colours and Distinction grade, was participant in this summer’s popular TV series “Super Garden. He agreed to share with us his thoughts and experiences, enhanced with great photos from his garden. So, Garden Review page is the place where you can read Conor’s story, and see images depicting step – by step process of the realization of Conor’s design. Extremely good example of what will wait for you once you start to design and realize those designs. Do not miss!
Another thing: Conor is now professional Landscape and Garden Designer, and you can find a link to his company “iCon Garden Designs” on our section Student Websites.
Naturally, I have prepared for you News and upcoming Events for autumn/winter period, as well as less formal section Did You Already Know?
Last season’s Garden Shows such as Chelsea in UK and Bloom in Ireland are featured in a quick, glance-like overview on our Garden Shows, Gardens and Events section.
Plant of the month this time is Ginkgo biloba; noble and fascinating plant!
I hope all of this will be gain and benefit to you. I appreciate all your
comments and opinions; please, keep them coming.
