Hello once again,
To my shame I still have not seen the new Sex in the City movie. Being heavily pregnant myself, sitting in a hot cinema does not really appeal to me on a summer evening! I have heard great things about it though….and M and S have cleverly focused in on this big movie launch-hiring the show and film’s stylist Patricia Field to design a capsule collection for their stores. Even wandering through the high street-so many shops have honed in on the cocktail dress and have picked out their “Carrie” dresses; “Charlotte” twinsets; “Miranda” casuals and “Samantha” sexy suits. Marks and Spencer’s really have had an ingenious idea, and now I guess we’ll see a new trend of stylists bringing out their own ranges, as opposed to last years celebrity collections. It’s a good year to be a stylist!
Speaking of TV there are some great fashion programmes on at the moment: Mary Queen of shops is a fantastic view into fashion marketing and retail; Gok Wan of How to look good naked is bringing out a new show on how to customise high street buys to look like designer brands; and then there’s America’s, Australia’s and Britain’s next top model which gives us a great look at production of editorial styling at high-end budgets.
In August I have to bid farewell to you all for a few months as I am on leave; but don’t worry-we have a fabulous new person in my place to look after you all and are expanding our fashion team .Her name is Pamela and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome her. She will be working with the rest of the fashion tutors and taking over much of my role while I am on leave. She has lots of experience in the industry and you can read her profile on the tutor page. Feel free to contact her in my absence if you need help with anything.

For students in the UK and Ireland- check out our upcoming open days. Come along and meet tutors, Limperts office staff and other students; and of course view portfolios and other student assignments.
