Modern Grunge:
Can it be? Grunge back again? Well all this eco chic is encouraging more vintage rummaging and re-cycling of older garments…and it’s not just for students: Back in the 80`s Kurt Cobain was the godfather of the grunge movement and now his daughter Frances Bean Cobain, at a mere 15 years old is coming to the fashion forefront as the possible new face of Chanel, creating a renewed focus in her dad’s era and style.
Last week Fashion Fringe hosted talks at London’s College of Fashion and the first ever Irish Eco Fashion Week was held in Dublin. Visitors to both events wore an eclectic mix of vintage, salvaged and re-made clothing which resulted in a modern yet grungy look. Designers hosting the events were forced to sit up and take note!
