Hello everyone
Well first let me introduce myself. My name is Pamela and I’m a new Image and Fashion Styling Tutor here at Limperts. I am going to be taking over from our programme leader Nichola while she is on leave. If you have any queries you can email me or indeed ring the academy where I will be happy to help you with any difficulties you are having with you’re assignments.
Unfortunately we’ve had to say a few goodbyes this past month. Fashion tutor Petula is following her heart and moving to Barcelona and Joan has left us to concentrate on her Fashion design career. We wish them both the best of luck with all their future endeavours.
This October we will be welcoming two new tutors to Limperts. Maria McCormack, who will be tutoring our Image Consultancy course, and Sinead Flanagan, our new Image and Fashion Styling Tutor. Both have loads of experience in the industry and we are excited to have them join our fashion team.
This is a very exciting time of year in the fashion calendar with all the new A/W collections hitting the stores. There are some dramatic new trends this season. The Gothic look been one of the biggest trends we have seen emerge on catwalk. Other hot trends include Lace, Folk, Punk, and Heritage. The latter two looks will ensure that tartan will be seen everywhere this autumn. The big colour for this season is tomato red, with rich tones of burnt orange and cinnamon also making a big impact….and of coarse black which is a huge element of the dark gothic look. Check out our trend link to see some of these emerging looks. This is also a great time of the year to stock up on your magazine collection, as all the major fashion magazines including Elle and Vogue will have catwalk reports heavily featured on their pages. Remember as budding fashion stylists and Image consultants you need to be aware of what is happening in fashion each season, and building up a file of magazines and images will help you when creating moodboards.
We’ve updated our student gallery this month so there are lots more examples of work for you all see, and hopefully inspire you.
We have a number of student open days coming up this month in both Ireland and the UK. This is a great opportunity to meet up with the tutors and other students. You will also be able to view other students work and portfolios and learn about our courses. Our classroom based courses will be beginning around Ireland this October, with fashion and Image classes running in Dublin, Cork, Athlone and Donegal. This is also a great time of year to start thinking about possible beginning a home study course with the long winter months approaching.
