Hello Everyone,
Hello all and welcome to the spring student
support, I would like to take this opportunity
to wish all our students a Happy and Successful
Year for 2010. Some of you may already be
acquainted with me as a Tutor with Limperts
Academy of Design. I would like to reintroduce
myself to everyone as your Programme Leader. Apologies for the delayed website update;
unfortunately this was due to the transition
period of the new role.
Firstly I would like to avail of
this chance and remind all our students that we are
here to mentor, assist and act as a support team to
help you throughout your chosen course of study and
in essence successfully achieve your own personal
study goals. If I can be of any assistance to help
make this easier please do not hesitate to contact
me with any queries you may have.
Some of the Interior Design students
will have met me through assignment feedback. I
would like to commend those of you who are reaching
your goals with your course work; I am only too
familiar with sense of achievement feeling. Keep up
the good work. I have observed the progress of
students work and seen improvements over the course
of time; this is especially evident in Final
Projects. It is apparent that students are
developing as designers to professional standards
with training, vision, determination and commitment.
Experience will come with time and this will further
help you to manage design projects from inception
through to completion. For current students I have
not yet met any new / prospective students I look
forward to meeting you and becoming familiar with
your design styles and ideas. Remember to get
involved in discussions on the on-line bulletin
board, it’s a great way to stimulate and develop
your design thoughts and ideas from interaction
fellow student designers.
Interior Designers generally have to
try hard to learn both aesthetical and technical
aspects as it is an integral part of the job. My tip
to all of you is to research to broaden your
knowledge for styles, keep on top of design ideas,
trends, exhibitions and trade shows. Looking forward
is always important however don’t forget to draw
inspiration from your surroundings, designers such
as Charles Rennie Mackintosh didn’t just draw from
past historic styles but looked to nature and
studied forms there to draw inspiration for his
designs, in furniture, lighting, architecture and
colour. In turn I am always interested in hearing
about our students websites. I would also like to
hear about blogs or websites you have found useful.
I would like to invite students to feel free to
forward interesting websites and blogs to me.
All the best
Tara Kenny
