Note: In the years after the Second World War, Britain experienced a new sense of optimism about the future. Following the Festival of Britain, there was an emphasis on good design for all aspects of home furnishing. Manufacturers increasingly employed artists to design textiles and wallpapers, and used their names as a selling point. Consumers welcomed the new brighter colours and fresh approach to pattern.
This exhibition will draw on MoDA’s own collections to show a wide range of wallpapers and textiles from the 1950s. Examples on display will include work by well-known artists and designers like Lucienne Day, Graham Sutherland, Cawthra Mulock and Jacqueline Groag.

The London Design Festival is a nine-day celebration of design in the world’s creative capital. The Festival is a platform for the widest spectrum of design disciplines, brought together as a unique and accessible programme. The Festival is both a cultural and a commercial event. IIDEX/NeoCon Canada in partnership with the Illuminating Engineering Society, Toronto Section (IES) will showcase the latest in interior, exterior, commercial and architectural lighting products plus lamps and lighting controls in 5,000 square feet of exposition space. With over 100 new Canadian and international exhibitors, Light Canada delivers not only cutting edge design, but will also showcase the monumental advances in sustainable lighting, LED technology, new materials and advances in lighting design. Attendees from all industry disciplines and buyers and specifiers, such as architects, interiors designers, lighting designers, engineers, facility and building managers can learn and earn CEU and Lighting Certified (LC) education credits at over 10 lighting seminars on the hottest lighting topics such as design, sustainable lighting, custom, technical and healthcare lighting, LED lighting for interior and exterior use plus many more topics. The Art of Light

Venue: Círculo de Bellas Artes will host the exhibition The Art of Light, a new look at the multi-disciplinary work of the artist László Moholy-Nagy . It focuses on the period in which he developed his fundamental aesthetic theory: The Art of Light. Over 200 works will be on display, including paintings, black and white and colour photography, films and graphic designs which reflect the vital importance of the artist for 20th century art.

 

KOREA
